THE MASTERCHEF INVENTION TEST sponsored by Miele also sponsored by ![]()
Did YOU have what it took?
If you loved watching the TV series, the MasterChef feature at the BBC Summer Good Food Show was a must for 2010!
Visitors took their chance to wow the experts and take part in our very own Invention Test presented by Celebrity MasterChef runner up Andi Peters, earning the chance to have their food tasted and critiqued by John Torode and Gregg Wallace themselves!
The Invention Test was a huge hit at MasterChef LIVE at London Olympia and the BBC Good Food Show Birmingham in November, and was just as big a hit at the BBC Summer Good Food Show this year. You can see pictures of the Invention Test at our November shows (and coming soon images from this years Summer show) on our Flickr group!
Twelve pre-booked candidates were given just 30 minutes to prepare a dish, using a selection of set ingredients chosen by our producer panel.
The expertise, innovation and passion of the contestants were monitored and assessed as they cooked by winners of previous MasterChef Series Matt Follas and Dhruv Baker. Once Matt and Dhruv had tasted up to ten of the dishes prepared, three lucky contestants were judged by either the fearsome judging duo* or winners from the TV programme.
The judges then tasted these dishes and gave feedback to all three finalists, but only one could be crowned winner! All participants got to take home their limited edition MasterChef apron, not available to buy.
Throughout the entire session, our Celebrity MasterChef host kept proceedings running smoothly, while a film crew followed the action at the cook stations, beaming footage live to screens for the audience to watch.
And all of this only cost £25 in addition to the general admission fee!
We also offer the opportunity for visitors to pair up with a partner for our new Double Invention Test!
Sometimes all you need is a little help from your friends, and the Double Invention Test offered the chance for you and a friend to combine your skills and demonstrate how two heads could be better than one.
Costing just £40 per pair, visitors could enter as a double for the final session of each day.
And it didn't stop there… Following the success of BBC’s Junior MasterChef, the Invention Test let the kids loose in the kitchen too! Supervised by a guardian, children under 16 showed John Torode and Greg Wallace what they were made of. We were even joined by past contestants of the Junior MasterChef programme, including this years winner Georgia Bradford!
Junior Double sessions were just £30 per pair and took place at the weekend.
And for those who preferred to maintain a safe distance from the heat of the kitchen, visitors could come along and join the audience for free, with seats allocated on a first come, first served basis.
