World Cup fever comes to The NEC this June

As World Cup fever hits the nation visitors to BBC Gardeners’ World Live at the NEC, Birmingham from 16-20 June will be getting into the spirit of things with a football themed garden, beautiful South African plants and top ideas for entertaining friends and family in gardens this summer.

  • A must for all World Cup fans will be the World Cup Garden, by top garden designer David Domoney, complete with outdoor TVs, football shaped gazebo, Jacuzzi and mini football pitch. Plants will be ball shaped with hanging baskets made from footballs. And of course the all-important summer BBQ plays a part of this garden as David hopes to score with the visitors to the show.
  • The RHS Floral Marquee will bring a taste of South African flora to the Show. Amongst over 120 specialist nurseries at the Show there will be hundreds of South Africa’s beautiful plants and flowers. Look out for sophisticated dieramas, architectural aloes, distinguished gladioli, irresistible dianthus, and glorious agapanthus - and to add some heat to gardens, look out for the Red Hot Pokers too.
  • Beer and football go hand in hand, so a popular draw will be Tasting Beers Live which takes place Friday – Sunday at the Show. As well as beer and ale tastings, there will be a guide to the perfect food and drink pairings.
  • Tickets to BBC Gardeners’ World Live also give entry to the BBC Summer Good Food Show taking place at the NEC at the same time. Visitors will be able to enjoy a taste of South African Biltong, washed down with a range of delectable South African wines from The Co-Operative. There will be a wide variety of of food and drink to taste and buy, featuring some special discounts.
  • Inspiring those entertaining friends during the football season, look out for Muddy Boots burgers, Debbie and Andrews and Supreme Sausages to name but a few. Standout items include all-singing, all-dancing BBQs from Napoleon Gourmet Grills and a garden spa, perfect for hosting the big match.

Plus with Fathers’ Day on Sunday 20th June, BBC Gardeners’ World Live makes the perfect family day out, especially with kids going free at the weekend. There’s plenty to keep them amused from Fathers’ Day card making to pond dipping, whilst dads can enjoy the Show.
